I am just going to take a few moments out of today (and only a few because oh my GOD, math homework) to say that the best book I've read in a very long time was The Translation of Dr Apelles, written by David Treuer, and I recommend reading it if you've got any spare time at all.

THAT IS ALL

it is a love story. actually it is two love stories. it is about dr apelles, who is a lonely middle-aged indian translator who comes across a manuscript of a love story between two young and beautiful indians a hundred years ago, and since he's the only one who speaks the language in which the manuscript is written, he has to translate it. it sounds very dull, which is what i thought initially when it was assigned, but it honestly is fantastic. i really recommend it to you, especially.
